The purpose of this paper is to examine the weak-form efficiency of the Iranian foreign exchange rate (defined by the Rial/Dollar) during time period 1999:25:01 to 2010:17:06 from long memory viewpoint. For this, we have employed three methods of scaling analysis including classical rescaled range (R/S) analysis, modified rescaled range (M-R/S) analysis and detrended fluctuation analysis (DFA). We have divided the time period into two sub-periods, 1999:25:01-2002:21:03 and 2002:21:03-2010:17:06. In the former time period, Iran had a fixed exchange rate regime and in the latter period, the country followed a managed floating exchange rate regime. The obtained results from these methods are not the same. To achieve more explicit conclusions, we’ve used two more widely applied econometric tests namely augmented Dickey-Fuller (ADF) test and Phillips-Perron (PP) test to determine whether or not the time series under consideration behave as random walk consistent with the weak-form efficiency. The findings indicate that the result of DFA is in line with the econometric approach. We conclude that the Iranian foreign currency market at the first sub-period is less efficient relative to the second sub-period. Another important result is that relying on only one method to make a conclusion about market efficiency may be very misleading. Therefore, one should first carefully select more reliable methods and then compare their results to achieve a reliable conclusion. }, keywords = {Forecasting,Scaling,Long memory,Rescaled Range Analysis,Detrended Fluctuation Analysis,Unit Root Tests,Random Walk,Efficient Market Hypothesis,Rial-Dollar Exchange Rate series, High-frequency data}, title_fa = {تحلیل‌های R/S و DFA تعدیل یافته برای آزمون کارایی بازار ارز خارجی تحت دو نظام ارزی: یک مطالعه موردی برای ایران}, abstract_fa = {بر اساس فرضیه بازار کارا، پیش بینی بازارهای مالی غیر ممکن است. هدف مقاله حاضر، آزمون شکل ضعیف کارایی بازار ارز ایران(ریال/دلار) از طریق بررسی حافظه بلندمدت بازار طی دوره زمانی 27/3/1389-5/11/1377 است. برای این منظور، سه روش تحلیل مقیاس بندی شامل تحلیل های دامنه مقیاس کلاسیکی (R/S)، دامنه مقیاس تعدیل یافته (M-R/S) و نوسان روند زدایی شده (DFA) استفاده شده است. دوره ی زمانی مورد مطالعه به دو زیر دوره ی 1/1/1381-5/11/1377 و 27/3/1389-1/1/1381 تفکیک شده است. در زیر دوره ی اول، ایران دارای نظام نرخ ارز ثابت بوده و در زیر دوره ی دوم، ایران از نظام نرخ ارز شناور مدیریت شده تبعیت کرده است. نتایج حاصله از این روش ها یکسان نیست. برای رسیدن به نتایج صریح و روشن، از دو آزمون اقتصاد سنجی پرکاربرد یعنی آزمون دیکی- فولر تعمیم یافته(ADF) و آزمون فیلیپس-پرون(PP) برای پاسخ دادن به این سئوال استفاده شده است که آیا سری های زمانی مورد بررسی از گام تصادفی که سازگار با کارایی ضعیف است، پیروی می کنند یا خیر. بر اساس یافته های تحقیق حاضر، نتیجه حاصل از روش DFA با رهیافت اقتصاد سنجی سازگار است. همچنین، یافته های این تحقیق نشان می دهد بازار ارز خارجی ایران در اولین زیر دوره در مقایسه با زیر دوره دوم، کارایی کمتری دارد. دیگر نتیجه مهم این است که اتکا به یک روش برای بررسی کارایی بازار ممکن است گمراه کننده باشد. بنابراین، ابتدا باید روش های قابل اعتمادتری انتخاب گردد و سپس، نتایج این روش ها برای رسیدن به نتیجه قابل اتکاء مقایسه شوند.}, keywords_fa = {پیش بینی,مقیاس بندی,حافظه بلندمدت,تحلیل دامنه مقیاس,تحلیل نوسان روند زدایی شده,سری زمانی نرخ ارز ریال/دلار,داده های با بسامد بالا}, url = {https://ijer.atu.ac.ir/article_638.html}, eprint = {https://ijer.atu.ac.ir/article_638_121c254cb37c6b8691dad40fe771f057.pdf} }
